Chandigarh is the natural starting point for the Shimla-Kinnaur route into Spiti - the gentler, longer-open entry we cover in detail on our Spiti timing guide. From Chandigarh, the route runs through Shimla, Narkanda, Sarahan and Kalpa before reaching Kaza, typically over 2-3 days rather than a single long drive.
Chandigarh's airport also makes this a realistic fly-in starting point for travellers from cities without a direct Manali or Shimla connection, unlike the Manali-side entry which usually assumes you're already in Himachal.
